Today is International Overdose Awareness Day. Today we remember this beautiful face and all that was lost when she died from an accidental opioid overdose on April 3, 2012. I wonder every day who she was destined to become, but I’ll never know because a careless person chose to sell drugs that didn’t belong to them and she made a tragic mistake at the tender age of 15. Olivia is the reason the Olivia Jollota Memorial Trust exists… no person should only be remembered for how they died! The Trust exists so people know her capacity for kindness, compassion, acceptance and forgiveness. Olivia was one-of-a-kind and we will miss her to the end of eternity. I remember all those before her and since who have joined this horrible club while we endure the opioid epidemic as the statistics are staggering!
